Family policies

Photos of your child

We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.

When to keep your child home

A child with a fever, vomiting or a contagious illness stays home until they have been well for a full day. If a child becomes ill at school, we call you and a teacher stays with them until you arrive.

Drop-off and pickup

Children go home only with the adults on your pickup list. We ask for photo ID at the door until we know you, and we call you if anyone else comes.

Late pickup

Please call if you are running late; a teacher stays with your child. Our late pickup policy is in the enrollment packet, and we talk with any family it affects.

Meals, snacks and allergies

Snack is bread, a warm grain dish, soup or fruit, made in the room. Families send lunch for the long day. We ask families not to send nuts. Tell us about allergies at the tour; we ask privately once you enroll.

Closures for weather and holidays

We close for major holidays, for winter break and for a week in April, and we share the full list at the start of the school year. If the weather is dangerous we close and text families that morning.

Leaving the program

We ask for a month's written notice before a child leaves, so we can offer the place to a family on the waitlist.

Screens and phones

We don't use screens with children at school, and we ask adults to keep phones in a pocket while in the rooms. We are glad to talk about screens at home at the tour, with no judgment.

What to wear and bring

Dress for the day in layers of wool or cotton, with a hat, and rain boots in spring and fall. Send a labeled bag with a full change of clothes and a pair of indoor shoes or slippers.

Questions about a policy?

Ask us at a tour, or call the school. We are happy to explain any of them.
